Well Hello There
The Bit About Me….
Are you sitting comfortably, then let me begin……
Well, hello there! It’s good to meet you. I hope you enjoy reading the Q&As below.
I had great pleasure answering these questions during a media interview.
I think they give you a good idea of who I am..

FAQ's
I predominantly write what I feel. I enjoy writing stories that are full of imagination and fun. If I am having fun, I know my readers are too. Writing for children allows me to explore my imaginative and creative side which spill onto the page for children and parents to read and enjoy.
Two books which have inspired me to write children’s stories are Animal Farm (George Orwell) and Charlotte’s Web (E.B. White). Both convey a serious message which inspired me to include such skills in my own stories, with the addition of having fun along the way of course.
Keeping a child’s attention is key. Put a little cheekiness into a story and you hold their attention much longer. I still giggle at words which are tantalisingly close to rude or naughty which make children giggle and horrify parents!
The Night Before Christmas by Clement Clarke Moore is my all-time favourite classical writer. For as long as I can remember, the timeless classic has held me captive in the belief that Christmas does not begin until I hear it.
BFG by Roald Dahl, of course, is a close second. Roald’s ability to create a made-up language is testament to his mastery of silliness which exists only in a world of imagination that is far beyond the reach of even the most skilled of writers.
I started writing when I met Santa in 1979. I was just five years old and I knew when I laid eyes on Santa that he was my “everything”. I wrote incoherent stories about the night I met him which I would read aloud to my Mum. I started writing seriously - as in you could actually read what I wrote, when I was eight years old despite my spelling being atrocious. I felt the pull, my calling or my “pen’s chanting” I would later describe that feeling as, when I was so very young. However, I never truly had the opportunity to explore my writing further until much later in life.”
For me, my imagination is never more alive than it is at Christmas. Hence, why I enjoy Christmas stories above all else. That said, once my imagination is sparked, I lose myself to another world, one where I enjoy spending my time.
I find it easy to sustain my creative flow and dedication from my mind’s eye, when I imagine the faces of the children eagerly waiting for my next book. They are my muse.
Born in Hull on 1 December 1974, I was referred to as the Christmas Baby immediately and it stuck. My birthday each year was spent decorating the tree whilst opening birthday presents. I would however, start preparing for Christmas in September!
We relocated to Withernsea when I was eight years old which is where I spent my childhood with my two older brothers and younger foster sister.
My Mum would say I was an imaginative child. I would write and perform plays, usually about lions for some reason, which I performed to my Mum with my foster sister.

I attended Withernsea High School but my life took a different route to that of my peers. My path was not straightforward.
I became pregnant in 1990 just before my sixteenth birthday. This is where my plans to join the RAF and also continue to write came to an abrupt halt.
I took three jobs in the summer, just weeks after my son was born. Thankfully, having the best Mum in the world helped unburden the load.
In the autumn I joined the year below me back at school. I kept my three jobs and finished my high school education in June 1992. I continued with higher education at Hull College and secured my first job as a Nursery Assistant soon after.
Being a teen mum didn’t define me. It gave me focus. It scuppered plans sure, made life harder, definitely but it also gave me great determination to succeed no matter what I did in life.

After almost three decades, I finally made it to Corporate Director in 2021. I became a Publisher, opening Perfect Reasons Publications and a published Author, launching my debut book Santa’s Lost Buttons, all in the very same year.
I have two children. My son is successful in business and he is married to his sweetheart and I am pleased to say we welcome a new boy to the clan, my Grandson Jude. My daughter, who arrived ten years after my son, is at University and the first in our family to do so.
My Mum remains my best friend today and has been since the day I was born.
My ambition is to see other’s joy in stretching their imagination and believing in the unbelievable. If I am able to provide some inspiration for them to achieve this through telling my children’s stories, then I will not only be accomplished but fulfilled and extremely happy too..

It’s Christmas Eve once again! HURRAH!
Down at The ELF.B.I, Belle the Elf and Santa feast on mince pies by a roaring winter's fire. It is almost time for the excitable duo to jump in their sleigh and fly away and deliver gifts to, equally excitable children, far and wide. But wait! What's that, sparkling like magic, emerging from the dancing flames?
As a solitary letter appears through the flames. Having received all of the children's letters from around the world already, Santa is confused as to who has has sent the letter so late on Christmas Eve? Only after reading the letter aloud for all to hear do Santa, Belle the Elf and Mrs Claus understand the reason why this child has been so late to write.
The child's letter is to ask if they can use their one Christmas wish for their Grandma who has been poorly and in hospital for a long time. Doctors, Nurses and Carers helped her so much to be well so she could be home for Christmas Day with her loved ones. But, the child says, "poor Grandma’s house is bare! No Christmas tree or gifts beneath" and supposed, "nor festive treats for them to eat!" With a child's Christmas wish list “Gifts Grandma will adore” can Belle and Santa help save Grandma’s Christmas Day or is it just too late?
